Ulugbek Ruziyev

Deputy Chairman of the Board for Operations
Uzbekistan Technological Metals Complex (UZTMK)

Ulug'bek Nematovich Ruziyev was born on June 18, 1986, in Mubarek district of Kashkadarya region in an intellectual family.

In 2016, he graduated from Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys (MISiS) and started working at JSC "Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine". Since 2024, he has been working as the deputy chairman of the board of directors at JSC "Uzbek Combine of Technological Metals" with a total work experience of 20 years. He holds a doctorate in technical sciences (DSc), which he obtained in 2019 after defending his dissertation on the topic "Creation of hard alloys of the WC-VC-Co system (tungsten carbide-vanadium carbide-cobalt) with high wear resistance". His research led to the development of a method for producing nanopowder of tungsten for addition to hard alloys, which has significant implications for both chemistry and physics, and for which a patent was obtained.

In 2023, he received the degree of doctor of technical sciences (DSc) after completing his dissertation at the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan. A total of 14 scientific works were published based on his dissertation, including 5 articles in scientific journals recommended by the Higher Attestation Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan for publishing the main scientific results of doctoral dissertations. Three of these articles were published in national journals, and two in foreign journals. The hard alloys produced using this method are in demand by approximately 70 enterprises in the country. The method of producing nanopowder of tungsten for addition to hard alloys has also attracted interest from the Korea Institute of Rare Metals (KIRAM), and joint work is being conducted to scale up this method.

Furthermore, he has been involved in more than 30 scientific projects and has obtained patents for inventions, including "Tungsten-copper bimetallic target for gamma-activation spectrometer", "Method for producing nanopowder of tungsten for addition to hard alloys", "Plasma chemical reactor", and others.
