Multi TX VIP and MT
Vector Induced Polarization / Resistivity (VIP) has been used in mineral exploration since the 1970’s. This method has been very effective in mapping large porphyry systems, and several geophysical instruments (Zonge, IRIS) have been developed across the globe for acquiring high-quality data.
The implementation of AGT’s gDAS distributed acquisition system from 2012 further enhanced the method by allowing the efficient acquisition of multi-transmitter VIP. The gDAS instrumentation facilitated the simultaneous acquisition of Tensor Magneto - Telluric soundings at with dedicated and mutual remote references for a frequency range of 0.001 - 10,000Hz allowing for 3-D interpretation of deep resistivity structure.
Moreover, the acquisition of very long period Induced Polarization parameters helps in increasing target-over-background responses, incorporating telluric cancellation and monitoring of transmitted current variations. Presentation provides a detailed justification of how simultaneous acquisition of MT acquisition along with VIP would help at mineral exploration
