Kamil Akatov is the Chairman of the Science Fund. He was born in 1991 in the Zhambyl region. He completed his education at several institutions, including the University of Wollongong (UAE), Kazakh University of Technology and Business, and Astana IT University. Akatov has accumulated extensive experience in fostering innovations and advancing digital technologies throughout his career.

From 2015 to 2016, he served as an expert and later as the chief expert in the project department of the Kazakhstan Center for Public-Private Partnership. In the years that followed, from 2016 to 2022, he held various important positions at the National Infocommunication Holding, including Chief Manager, Senior Manager, Head of Department, and Director of Department. His experience in these roles gave him deep expertise in national digital initiatives and public-private partnerships.

Between January 2022 and August 2022, Kamil Akatov was appointed Chairman of the National Agency for Innovation Development Qazinnovations, where he played a key role in driving the agency’s mission forward. From September 2022 to November 2023, he served as the Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In November 2023, Akatov was appointed Chairman of the Science Fund. Throughout his career, he has been deeply involved in a range of national projects and initiatives. These include the implementation of public-private partnership (PPP) projects in ICT, digitalization, and information security, as well as the integration of digital platforms. He has also worked on grant funding for innovation activities, technology commercialization, and the development of innovation on a national scale.
