The Growth of Core Scanning Technology as seen through a Case Study of Xanadu Mines: Pre-Feasibility study

In today's mining industry, integrating analytical technologies is essential for reliable data capture and driving project success. This presentation will highlight core scanning, a rapidly advancing concept over the past decade. We will discuss how Geotek’s scanning technology has been adopted by both junior and tier 1 mining companies, focusing on the use of the 'BoxScan’ system for Xanadu Mines' Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS). This core scanning system has enabled consistent and accurate data capture across geological, geotechnical, and geometallurgical datasets. The BoxScan’s high-resolution 3D scanning captured critical geological structures and mineral distributions at Kharmagtai.

The BoxScan system provided insights into sulphide mineralization, contributing to detailed 3D geometallurgical models. These models were integrated into resource estimation block models, optimizing open pit and waste dump designs. By identifying geological features not visible to the human eye, the BoxScan enhanced deposit understanding and reduced uncertainties. Machine learning techniques, such as a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), were also employed to improve mapping accuracy of veins and sulphides.
This integration significantly advanced geometallurgical modeling, improving resource confidence and enhancing the economic potential of Xanadu Mines' project and we look forward to sharing this with you today!
